We are excited to announce the launch of Traces Journal, a Canadian Journal of Christian Arts & Letters. We hope this journal will help to fill a gap in the Canadian literary landscape by providing Christian writers a place to seriously explore the connections between art and faith in Canada.
Mission Statement
Traces Journal is a Canadian literary arts journal. We are dedicated to promoting arts and letters engaging with the Christian tradition. We publish poetry and prose that seek traces of the divine in our midst.
Traces values art that draws on the richness of inherited forms and traditions, as well as art that struggles within and against these inheritances. We seek to provide a place for artists who, like Emily Carr attend to the “growth, the surging upward, this expansion, the pulsing life” we encounter on this shared land, and feel “the same urge to express the God in themselves—life, life, life, which is God, for without Him there is no life.”
Publication Summary
Traces Journal publishes work written in English or French. We are open to submissions in other languages if an English or French translation can be arranged.
We publish quarterly, with submissions accepted year-round.
Submissions Summary
Submissions are currently open and will be open year-round for poetry and non-fiction (interviews, reviews, and essays). We seek work to publish in our inaugural issue this Fall 2024.
We accept submissions from Canadians at home or abroad, writers currently residing in Canada, or from international writers engaging with Canadian culture, art, history, landscape, or experience.
